Educators are the heart of what we do at UBC Child Care, a unique early childhood education operation that serves students, faculty and staff in the UBC Vancouver community.

Who we’re looking for

Qualities

The candidates we’re looking for must have and show documented evidence of:

  • A commitment to ongoing learning, self-reflection and professional development.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with children, colleagues and parents/guardians—with a solid English-language proficiency.
  • Effective skills with program and curriculum planning and implementation—with an emphasis on planning high-quality, responsive programs and curriculum.
  • A collegial, collaborative and flexible approach and attitude.
  • Ability and interest in working effectively in a team environment.
  • A commitment to the Early Childhood Educators of BC (ECEBC) Code of Ethics.
  • Engagement with exploring and implementing the goals in BC’s Early Learning Framework.
  • For Senior Educator applicants: the desire and ability to inspire, engage and motivate junior educators.

Qualifications

Minimum required qualifications

The minimum required qualifications are: 

  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) certification with a preference for Post-Basic certification, either Infant-Toddler (IT) or Special Needs (SN) and/or:
  • A post-secondary degree in Early Childhood Education

Candidates should be able to carry out all assigned duties. Additional required qualifications

Additional qualifications that you are required to hold and, during the interview process, provide proof of: 

  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications.
  • Early Childhood Educators of BC (ECEBC) membership.

Successful applicants will also be asked to complete a criminal record check form (we do not accept existing criminal record checks). You also must provide proof of participation in the BC Ministry of Health Immunization program.

Please be prepared to provide copies of all diplomas, degrees and certifications as part of the interview process.
