School age

We offer school age (before and after school) care for children enrolled at U-Hill Elementary and Norma Rose Point Elementary schools, which are both located on the UBC Vancouver campus.

Quick facts

  • Age group: School age (Kindergarten)
  • Maximum group size: 24 children from Kindergarten and Grade 1 or 30 children from Grade 2 and older with no Kindergarten or Grade 1 children present
  • Child-to-staff ratio: One responsible adult for every 12 children from Kindergarten and Grade 1; one responsible adult for every 15 children from Grade 2 and older
  • Food: Snacks provided by families
  • Hours: 7:30 am-9 am and 3 pm-6 pm

School age care is recreation and play-based, with daily activities scheduled based on the interest and ages of the group. Each day will include both active and quiet times, with outdoor time in a play yard designed specifically for this age group.

We offer the following registration options for school age care:

  • Before and after school care
  • After school care only

We do not offer before school care only.

Legislative requirements

All of our settings meet or exceed legislative requirements for licensed care.

Staff-to-child ratio

  • 1 responsible adult for each 12 children from Kindergarten and Grade 1
  • 1 responsible adult for each 15 children from Grade 2 and older

Staff qualifications

  • Responsible adults must be 19 years of age or older and able to provide care and mature guidance to children. Must also have 20 hours of child care-related training, relevant work experience, a valid first aid certificate and a clear criminal record check.
