Summer school age care
For school age children, we offer full-day, weekly summer care for children ages 6–12, which provides unique experiences—including field trips in the neighbourhood, on-campus at UBC and throughout Vancouver—and aligns with the BC Early Learning Framework.
Quick facts
*Five-year old children must have completed Kindergarten (i.e., summer after Kindergarten). Thirteen-year old children must have just completed Grade Seven (i.e., summer between grades seven and eight).
Eligibility
The program is open to UBC Child Care families and the general public. However, priority registration is offered to families with children enrolled in one of our school age programs, and typically there are only a small number of remaining spaces available for children from outside of our programs.
Fees
We are committed to maintaining affordable summer child care fees for UBC families. Learn more about our current summer program fees.
How to register
Each year in April, registration is offered to families with children currently enrolled at one of our school age care settings.
While all spots are typically filled by children enrolled in school age care with us, if there are any remaining spots available once the internal registration process is complete, we will contact families on the external waitlist.
My child is not enrolled with UBC Child Care. Can I apply?
Yes. But keep in mind that most, if not all, summer care spots are typically filled by children enrolled in school age care with us—and you would only receive an offer to register if there are any spots available after the internal registration is complete.
